A community forum will be held on Monday, February 28 2011 starting promptly at 5:30pm – 7:00pm. The goal of such a forum will be to establish framework and dialogue in the development of a second year round farmers market in the South Harrisburg area. Within our community our food safety and security is at risk because of little to no access of whole raw food products within low income areas.

Location will be at the Boys & Girls Club 1227 Berryhill Street in Harrisburg. Your input and participation is key. Please share this information with your constituents so they may attend.

After this forum an ad hoc/planning committee will be established to assist in moving the project forward. The establishment of a second year round market will create more access to local food products, create and develop economic opportunities, reduce crime, support local farmers and generate revenue for Harrisburg City.

The feedback from the initial email has been over whelming and there seems to be great support for such a market.
